Tom Martin began his career in 2011, serving as a financial advisor and planner for Waddell & Reed Advisors, specializing in comprehensive financial planning for business owners and retirees.
At the end of 2015, Tom founded Clear Path Financial Planning, a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA), specializing in late stage (Freshman – Senior) college planning, seeking scholarships, estimating expected family contribution, assistance with FAFSA and asset utilization. Funding of education vehicles (i.e. 529 plans) and utilization recommendations. Through comprehensive financial planning, Tom Martin found success in helping high-income families maximize financial aid, minimize student debt, and explore tax opportunities.
In 2021, Tom Martin joined Vaylark Financial Services, a full service, independent financial planning firm, also specializing in college financial planning across Connecticut.
Tom believes that education is a force that can change the world and volunteers on the Leadership Council of Pencils of Promise, a global organization that believes everyone deserves a quality education, as well as serving on the Financial Planner’s Association (FPA)’s Next Gen Editorial Board, which provides valuable content for financial planners worldwide.
Tom is a veteran of the Kosovo war, which liberated Kosovo from the opressian of Yugoslavian and Serbian troops. In addition, he has fought in various other operations leading to a number of medals and achievements, in addition to being the youngest enlisted to earn the surface warfare designation. Tom resides in Cheshire with his wife, two sons, and his black Lab named Bash.
